Review - Lemieux ProTouch Gloves
I find that good gloves are an extremely difficult thing to come by, and when you finally do buy an expensive pair of the "best gloves on the market" they always end up getting lost or you end up with holes all over them because you love them so much that you can't take them off! Well, I can promise you that with these new LeMieux gloves, you will make sure that you don't loose them because you won't be wanting to ride in anything else, and after wearing them everyday since I got them (around 2 months) there's no signs of wear at all.
The LeMieux ProTouch glove is made of a gorgeous soft goats leather, with he upper side being a ventilating mesh which supports cooling and doesn't hold water. The velcro strap is strong and there's no chance of it coming un done whilst your riding, whilst it is placed strategically on the wrist for the most comfortable fit possible, as well as the leather LeMieux logo which looks super smart. The discrete colour coordinated silicon strips are one of the best things about this glove, and something that most gloves lack. They mean that no matter how bad the weather is, you will always have as much grip on the reins as possible. Through a considerable amount of use of these gloves in all disciplines, there are no signs of the silicon rubbing away. The finger tips are reinforced which prevents finger nails from rubbing through the ends, which again is something that a lot of gloves lack and it can be incredibly frustrating to always have holes on the ends of your gloves!
After riding in torrential rain a few times, I was slightly worried that these gloves would lose their shape and become really stiff which is something that I have experienced before. After drying out, there was no change at all, the goats leather was still soft and supple, and the silicon had lost none of its stickiness. For me, this is one of the most important aspects when choosing a good glove as we all know what England is like!
These gloves are really close fitting due to the material that they are made out of and are extremely lightweight but still durable at the same time. Sizing wise, I went for a small at first. I'm a size 7 in Mac Wet gloves and these were slightly too big so if you are going by the size guide then I would suggest going half a size down. I love these gloves so much that I bought another pair at Barbury in extra small which fit me much better (I like my gloves to be quite tight fitting) so I now have one pair for home and one for competition.
At the incredibly cheap price of £19.96 compared to other brands (Mac Wet sport gloves £34.95 and Woof wear event gloves £22) these are worth every penny, you will never want to ride in anything else again! You can purchase the LeMieux ProTouch gloves here. They come in 4 different colours: Black, white, navy and brown, but only black have the XS size option.
