Review - Lemieux Thermo-Cool Light Rug
Please welcome the new love of my life...The NEW Lemieux Thermo-Cool rug which is just so beautiful that I almost couldn't put it on the ponies for fear of it being covered in hair and shavings! This is the first one of the Lemieux rugs to come in brighter colours, although they're still super smart. I chose corn blue because it's my favourite out of all the Lemieux colours, a bit different, and also matches Rambo's vogue headcollar.
The rug is made of a unique wool and acrylic blend which has fantastic wicking properties and disperses moisture. It is slightly lighter than the usual thermo-cool rug material which is even better for the hot weather and is slightly stretchy to ensure the perfect fit. The lower section is made from a nano mesh material which aids the cooling process and is completely non heating. These two materials together mean that every area of cooling is covered and the rug is perfect for both cold and hot weather, unlike most rugs.
The front closes with adjustable buckles to fit either small or large shoulders and means no gaps! the buckle and rings are strong and well made, definitely not in danger of breaking. They also have a navy tinge which goes very well with the corn/navy colour scheme.
The wither area has an extra fleece lining, proving extra comfort and meaning that mane rubbing is less likely and there is no wither pressure.
Sizing wise, these come up very big. I have a 5'6 on Rambo which fits him perfectly, he is usually 5'9 and 14.1h. It also fits Custard well on a different front buckle setting and his is usually 6'0 and long backed so I would recommend to anyone to go down at least one size.
I've been using this rug for the last two weeks after exercise at at competitions on both ponies. On average after getting fully wet, this rug takes around 15-20 minutes in order to fully dry the body. After cross-country, I put it on straight after washing off and it really helped to cool Custard down without letting him get cold at windy Treborough! But the best thing about this rug is that if you leave your horse in the stable with it on and they roll (just to be really unhelpful) the shaving don't stick and can be removed easily with just a quick shake off which I happily found out after Rambo completely covered himself!
