Review - Lemieux Teal Overreach Boots
Finally I managed to complete the teal from Lemieux, and I now have the absolute ultimate matchy set!! This light blue will suit any horse you pop it onto, and with brushing boots to match - surely this has to be the way to go?! It's not with many sets though that you manage to find overreach boots from the same brand that are cheap AND match perfectly...so the teal set from www.horsehealth.co.uk is pretty special.
First Impression:
Look pretty sturdy but soft as the same time. The stitching all looks good on the velcro straps and the colour matches the other teal items perfectly. Very light and soft round the top rim to hopefully avoid rubbing.
Sizing:
These come up quite small, I would usually good for a small on both Rambo and Custard as they have quite dinky legs, but if I was to repurchase these, i would definitely go for a medium instead. Even though this is the case, they still came round all the way I managed to get them on, but perhaps a little more snug than I would usually like! I would say that the sizing is very similar to that of the "Ringers" overreach boots (also made by Horses Health) but smaller than the Lemieux ballistic boots which i use for Showjumping and Cross Country.
Features:
Made of a Soft Shell material which not only lives up to its soft name but is also strong and durable. These are also lined with Airprene foam which is very protective and also moulds to your horse or pony's foot while they are on. The bottom have been reinforced with extra material, meaning that it's not going to wear away easily. The internal lining is black which is great as it doesn't get so dirty!
Washing:
I washed these on a cold wash with a few other bits and pieces that were a similar colour. After about 10 uses and 3 washes (Due to me always riding in a muddy field!) They came out like the photo above. There wasn't much sign of wear at all, and the velcro cleaned up nicely with one of my Wizard brushes from Horse Health which you can buy here and have a use for everything! The only thing that i noticed was that they became a bit fluffy around the edges at the bottom, although you can't notice it at all when they're on.
They've held out much better than I expected due to the soft material and the very cheap price. Compared to other makes of Soft Shell overreach boots, they're a lot sturdier and I'm certain that they would last much longer. These are definitely worth the investment, and if your not interested in the matchy colours, Teal and Benetton, they also come in Black, White and Brown!
