Review - Lemieux Signature Teal Fly Hood

Please excuse the slightly bemused pony (He loves the paparazzi really!)

LeMieux sent me this signature fly hood to complete my teal matchy set...and I have to say that I am completely in love! With most of my sets I don't have the matching fly veil because I didn't really feel that it was necessary, but I was definitely wrong!! A fly hood completes a set and just adds that extra finishing touch

that others might have!

First Impression: Matches the saddlepad, bandages and boots perfectly! Well made and not too heavy so I would hope that it wouldn't hold sweat or water too much.

Sizing: I went for a medium which fits both Rambo and Custard perfectly. Custard had a especially tiny head and the ears are even a tiny bit big for him in length, but we make do! Rambo has a very wide head so i've had a few problems with finding fly hoods that have a wide enough head piece without being too long, however i am very pleased with the fit of these!

Features: Suede ears which matches the lustre saddlepad, and a crochet front with the LeMieux logo in the centre which looks super smart! There's no throat lash which is great since then i don't have to cut it off! Personally, I really don't think they look very smart for competing with the throat lash, and it is completely unnecessary anyway!

Use: I've been using these about twice a week for the past three or so weeks without washing and I have to say that they hold up extremely well. They are breathable and absorb any sweat which is fab as I don't particularly want to wash them after every time that i ride. They don't move at all, even without the throat lash attachment. I used the same fly hood but in competition colour for our first event at Moreton yesterday, and even after all three disciplines they hadn't moved. I use the fly hoods for dressage to help Rambo concentrate as he is very easily distracted which makes it very difficult to ride a decent test. I used them for the first time at Dauntsey park last year were we achieved a 26 dressage (2nd best) after having 38 (almost last!) in the previous competition.

Washing: The fly hoods are very easy to wash. I popped them in on a cold wash along with a few LeMieux saddle pads. They came out completely clean and looking as good as new!
