Review - LeMieux Polo Club

When the SS/15 Horse Health product catalogue first came out, I was absolutely obsessed! My favourite product was always the LeMieux polo headcollars, although I couldn't decide what colour I liked best. Eventually...a beautiful picture of Valegro in the Blue/Azure/Champagne headlock swayed me! So that year at Badminton, when they were first released, I must have been one of the first to purchase this gorgeous headcollar! On the same year for Christmas, I also received the matching dog collar for my lovely whippet Smartie.

Polo Club Dog Collar (Blue/Azure/Champagne) - £22.50

Sizing: Cob size for a 14.1hh pony with a chunky head. Depending on the fit that you prefer, I had the headcollar on the top holes for a smaller fit and loosened the head piece by 1 hole to go over a bridle.

XS for a small whippet! I actually ended up adding a hole with a hole punch which was super easy, just because I hate collars moving too much! Once I had added the extra hole, it was a perfect fit.

Features:

Lovely soft black leather with very precise stitching. The buckles are all made of metal and are not too big but robust all the same. The Polo part takes up most of the headcollar, only stopping at where the buckles are, making extremely good value for money. All 3 colours compliment each other very nicely, as with all 3 styles of the headcollar.

The dog collar is also made for the same black leather, it has a metal ring which goes under your dogs neck, in order to clip on a lead or a tag. The colours and making are the exact same as the headcollar version.

Using:

I used some normal leather dressing to allow both items to become supple and loose, also to ensure maximum durability and life length. They have held up well when they get wet, I usually re condition then to make sure that there's no problems but if I forget to, the leather still doesn't dry up or crack.

Smartie wears her collar every day, out hacking on the farm, on walks, when we go shooting etc. None of the stitching has shown signs of coming undone, and it looks as good as new!

Overall:

Two very well made products, available in fantastic colours to suit any horse or dog. A great Christmas present, and the headcollars are currently on sale so get yours while stocks last!
